- Information on the pastors of the church
Pastor Andrew Chan
Pastor Andrew has been serving as a pastor since 1991 in various English-speaking Chinese churches and multi-cultural churches in Calgary, Vancouver and now in Richmond. Even though he was raised in a Buddhist home, he came to know that God loved him and that Christ died for him as a teenager in the late 1970’s. In the early 1980’s he moved to Canada from Malaysia, landing in Toronto, in the middle of winter.
God called him to fulltime ministry while studying at the University of Winnipeg. Upon completing his undergraduate work with the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Administrative Studies, sensing God’s direction he pursued seminary studies. The local church family (Fort Richmond Assembly) in Winnipeg has been instrumental in his call to ministry. With their encouragement and support, he graduated with the Master of Arts (Biblical Counseling) from Providence Theological Seminary, Otterburne, Manitoba and also with the Master of Religious Education from Canadian Theological Seminary, Regina, Saskatchewan. He was ordained in 1995 at Calgary Faith Mennonite Church, which was a church made up of second-generation Canadian born Chinese.
His passion is to help others to experience grace and peace in the unconditional love of God by faith in Jesus. He understands that no one is perfect and everyone needs more than a second-chance. So drop him a line via e-mail or visit him in the church office (Tuesdays-Fridays, 9am-3pm) or make an appointment. He would love to share God’s amazing Good News with you!
Pastor Anthony Yeung
Pastor Anthony immigrated to Vancouver from Hong Kong in the year 1973. As a teenager, he made a personal decision to follow Christ and then dedicated his life to God in response to God’s calling to full time ministry during the Canadian Chinese Christian Youth Winter Conference. For many years during his youth, he received dedicated spiritual nurture and mentoring from the pastor of the church (Vancouver Chinese Pentecostal Church) where he became a Christian. After he graduated from SFU with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, he worked for a few years in the accounting field.
Under the guidance of God, Pastor Anthony entered into full time ministry in 1988. He was first sent to Macau as a missionary, served in pastoral ministry in Macau and then to Hong Kong for a total of seven years. He returned to Vancouver in 1995 to pursue theological studies at Regent College, graduated in 1998 with the Master of Christian Studies in New Testament Studies. Upon graduation, he was appointed as church planter of a Chinese church in North Delta where he had pastored for eight years. He was ordained in 2004 by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. He joined the Richmond Chinese EFC since July, 2006 as Pastor of Chinese Ministries.
Pastor Anthony speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English. He has a good understanding of both Chinese and Western cultures and their differences. He has a passion for biblical expository preaching, personal evangelism, discipleship and pastoral counseling.
